About Users 1. Can I participate if I am not registered? No. If you aren’t registered, you will only be able to read ideas and be inspired by them. If you want to publish ideas and problems; comment, vote and take part in competitions, you will need to register. Go to Register, it’s really simple and quick. 2. I have not received an email confirmation for my new account This can be for several reasons: -You may have entered an incorrect email address. -The process may be taking longer than usual. -The email has been delivered to your unwanted mailbox. Please check your junk mail folder. If none of these reasons apply, please contact us at info@ideas4all.com 3. I have entered my user name and password, but cannot access my account You may have entered your user name or password incorrectly. If you have forgotten your password, click “Forgot my password”. Next, you will be asked to enter the email address you used when you registered. You will receive an email with your user name and a link to reset your password. There might also be a temporary technical issue. 4. How can I edit my user profile? All you need to do is go to “My Profile”, which you’ll find under the “Personal” tab in the menu bar. Here, you will be able to change your nickname, password and profile picture, and enter any personal information you wish to add. Remember, by completing your profile you can win tons of Brain-Fu points. 5. Can I delete a comment I have submitted? Yes. Click on the "X" that you’ll find next to the comment you wish to delete. 6. How can I subscribe to ideas posted by a specific user? In your personal page, click on the button: “Subscribe to the ideas feed of my network” that you’ll find at the bottom of the page under My Network. This is where you’ll see all the ideators you are following. 7. How can I communicate with another user? For now, the only way to communicate with other Community users is through the comments posted in ideas and problems. 8. How can I deactivate my user? If you wish to deactivate your user, simply send your request to bajas@ideas4all.com About the ideas4all Community 1. How can I follow another ideator? It’s really simple. All you need to do is enter a user’s profile by clicking on his/her profile picture or nickname. Under the Tag Cloud, you will see the button “Add to your Network”. By clicking here, you will start following this user and will receive notification of all his/her activity in your personal profile. He/she will become part of your network. To stop following that user, simply go to his/her profile and click on “Stop following”. 2. How can I stop following an ideator? Go to the profile of the user you wish to remove from your Network and click “Remove from your Network”. 3. What is the button "Send to a friend" I see in every idea and problem? You may run into an idea you think is perfect for someone you know, or a problem one of your friends surely knows how to solve. Whenever you do, click this button and send the idea to your friends. You will find the button in all ideas and problems. 4. How can I invite my friends to register and participate? To invite a friend simply click on “Spread the Word” on the top right-hand corner of the website. You can use this to send invitations to as many friends as you like. They will all receive an Invitation Code that they can choose to enter when they register. After we have confirmed that your invitation code was used when they registered, we will add 150 points to your Brain-Fu. Any new users registering with your invitation code will help you increase your Brain-Fu. Check out our table to find out how many points you can win. 5. If an idea or problem is inadequate, can I report it? If you consider content (an idea, problem or comment) to be inadequate, you can report it by clicking on “Report Abuse”, which you will find in every idea or problem. When you report an idea, you must specify the reasons for which you consider it offensive, namely: - Fake: this is not an idea, but rather a mere comment or opinion, or nonsensical content, etc. After it has been reported, content will be sent to the observatory, where ideas4all’s Administration will decide whether it should be deleted or not.- Advertising: the content is advertising and mentions sites that are external to ideas4all for “commercial” reasons. - Offensive content: content that is used to attack or intimidate other users, ethnic groups, communities, etc. - Inappropriate content: content that is violent, pornographic, etc. - Copyrighted Material: content that is protected by copyright or has been copied from other websites. 6. How do languages work in ideas4all? By default, when you enter ideas4all you will see all ideas and problems in the language in which they were posted, although all other web content (buttons, explanatory texts etc.) will appear in your browser’s default language. If your browser is installed in English, ideas4all will appear in English; if your browser is installed in Spanish, ideas4all will appear in Spanish, and so forth. 7. Can I change the website’s language? Yes. Simply go to the Language flag on the top right-hand corner of the screen and select the language you wish to use. 8. Can I filter ideas and problems by language? Yes. To see content from ideas and problems in a specific language, go to the flag next to Content on the top right-hand corner of your screen and select the language you wish to filter content in. You can select from 1 to 3 languages, or can choose to see content in all languages. Remember that when you filter searches by language, this will also be reflected in the Ranking lists you see, i.e. you will only see ideas in the language(s) you have selected. Everything will be filtered except for the Ideas Map, which is not affected by filters and shows ideas in all languages. You can also read ideas in other languages thanks to the Google Translator button you will find next to the title of ideas posted in other languages. Use this button to translate the idea automatically. 9. Why has my idea or problem been deleted? There are two possible reasons: -You may have deleted it yourself, but don’t remember. -Another user may have selected “Report Abuse” in one of your ideas/ problems, because he or she considered it inappropriate (False, Advertising, Offensive, etc.) and the idea was deleted. If this is the case, you will receive an email letting you know your idea has been deleted. 10. My account was deleted Another user may have clicked on “Report Abuse” in your profile because he or she considered you had published inappropriate content (ideas, problems, comments, etc.) and your account was deleted. If this is the case, you will be notified by email. 11. ideas4all en China iideas4all has a very special interest in China, one of the most active and creative countries in the world, from which we expect to receive hundreds of thousands of ideas. In order to adapt to Chinese culture, laws, and needs, we have created an independent platform with a different domain name: www.ideas4all.cn, completely designed with Chinese users in mind. For all other users that wish to visit and browse through our content in Chinese, www.ideas4all.com is still available in that language, as usual. About ideas and problems: editing, votes, comments, etc. 1. How can I publish an idea or problem? Before you can publish an idea or problem, you must be a registered user. Once you are, you have two options: - Click on “Post Ideas”, which you will find under the “Ideas” tab in the menu bar, or click on “Share Problems”, which you will find under the “Problems” tab in the menu bar. - Click on the button “I have an idea” or “I share a problem”, which you will find under the menu bar in all of ideas4all’s web pages. This will lead you to the page from which you can edit your idea or problem. The first thing you’ll need is a title. Try to give a good idea of your content, and include key words to describe it, so that other users can find it easily with the search engine. Then enter the text you want to include in your idea or problem, remember you can also add images and videos. You can choose to fill in several fields, while others are mandatory: - Intellectual Property: You can select one of the two options for the type of license you wish to use when you post your idea or problem. Read more on these licenses in Terms & Conditions. - Category: The theme you wish to classify your idea in. - Language: The language your idea is written in. - Tags: Key words that define your idea and will help others find it when they carry out a search. If you wish to enter various tags, remember to leave a blank space between them, and if you wish to enter a multi-term tag (e.g. classical music), you will need to add a low dash between the words that make up the tag (e.g. classical_music). - Suggested for: In this field you can add the company, institution or brand you want to dedicate your idea to. - Dedicated to: Use this field to dedicate your idea to someone, for fun. If your idea is meant for an airline you could dedicate it to all the world’s travellers, or to airline employees… When your idea is complete, click on “Submit” to post it and make it visible to all other users. You can choose to save your idea as a draft and publish it at a later time. 2. What type of files can I attach to an idea or problem? Any type you wish. You can attach images, videos, text files and subpages, thus allowing you to create an idea with various pages of text. You can even transform your idea into a “wiki”, inviting other users to edit your idea. A Wiki is a collaborative web space that can be edited by various users. It allows any reader to edit content published by others: A web space where users can edit content freely. 3. How can I post a solution to a problem? You must first access the problem you want to solve and click on the button “Create a solution for this problem”. A new screen will appear, from which you will be able to edit all aspects of your solution, enter a title, tags, etc. Post the solution by clicking on “Submit”. A solution is just like an idea. You can attach files to a problem’s solution, as well as images, videos, text files, and subpages. You can also connect an idea, be it your own or another ideator’s, to a problem that you think it solves. To do this, enter the idea, and under the “Problems solved by this idea” tab, click on “See all solved problems” and search for the title of the problem you consider it solves. Tick the box that appears next to the title of the problem, and the idea will be connected to that problem as its solution. 4. How can I delete my idea or problem? You can only delete ideas and problems that you have posted yourself. Enter the idea or problem you wish to delete and click on “Edit”, next to the idea’s title. You will access the page from which you can edit content. At the bottom of the page, you will find the “Delete” button. Clicking this button will delete your content. 5. How can I comment on an idea or problem? You must first access the idea or problem you wish to comment on, and write inside the blank space you will see under the title “Add a new comment”. Next, click on “Submit Comment”. There is no limit to the number of comments a user can make in an idea or problem. 6. How can I vote for an idea or problem? When you access an idea or problem you wish to vote for, click on “Vote as Good” (idea or problem). 7. Can I add an idea or problem to my favorites? Yes. You can add any content you have liked to your favorites list, which can be viewed in your personal profile. To do this, click on the idea or problem you wish to add to your favorites. Then click on “Add to Favorites”. The idea or problem will now be available in your favorites list, under the tab “My favorites” in your personal page. To delete content you have added to your Favorites, access the idea or problem you wish to delete and click on the “Remove From Favorites”. 8. What are the tags that appear next to ideas in the category “Ideas to make ideas4all better”? In the category “Ideas to make ideas4all better” you will find three tags we use to classify ideas that have been reviewed by Administration. These are: - Filed – These are ideas that may be very good, but have been filed for various possible reasons, e.g. developing it is too complex or the suggestion does not entirely fit in ideas4all’s philosophy. - Developed – These are ideas that we have already developed, or are about to add to the website. - Viable – These are ideas that we are going to examine, in order to evaluate the possibility of carrying them out. Ideators of ideas that have been labeled “Viable” should understand that we will study their suggestions, but cannot guarantee that all of these ideas will be carried out or start development within a short period of time, given that most ideas involve technical modifications. About idea and problem searches 1. Homepage Content Filters In the ideas4all homepage, you can choose if you wish to see ideas, problems or ideators, by clicking on each corresponding tab. If, for example, you are viewing ideas, you can filter results by clicking on “24 Hrs, 7 days, 30 days or 365 days” depending on the time period you are interested in. If you would rather see the most voted (top) ideas, or the most commented or most viewed, simply use the drop-down menu next to the available filters. 2. How can I search ideas or problems by other ideators? Use the tabs “Ideas” and “Problems” that you will find in the menu bar: - Click on “Browse Ideas” or “Browse Problems” and then select the search results you wish to filter by: title, date, Ideator/Questor, votes, number of visits, or country. - You can search “By Category” - You can also use the “Tag Search” You can also find what you are looking for by using the search engine, on the top right-hand corner of all pages. 3. How can I view ideas and problems by country? You can view ideas and problems posted in different countries by clicking on the tab “Ideas Map”, on the menu bar.
